People of Kerala ready for change: Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi has strongly backed the United Democratic Front (UDF) ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections, stating the alliance represents the people's aspirations
Rahul Gandhi described the UDF as a cohesive and representative force, saying, ‘Team UDF is Team Keralam.’ Gandhi said each candidate reflects the voice, the aspirations and the trust of the people of Keralam. This is a collective of experienced leaders and young change-makers - a strong team of men and women who understand the intricacies of the constituencies they represent.
Reflecting on his personal connection with the state, the former MP from Wayanad said, ‘For me, Keralam is home and the people of Keralam are family.’ He also expressed gratitude for the support and affection he has received. He said he would continue to work closely with the people of the state and contribute to its development.
The leader of opposition in Lok Sabha further said the message from Kerala is clear — citizens are seeking a government that is responsive, accountable and effective. Gandhi concluded his message with a confident assertion: ‘Kerala will win. UDF will lead,’ reinforcing the party’s campaign narrative ahead of the polls.
His remarks came a day after the Congress announced its list of 92 candidates for the Assembly elections. The Congress is contesting 92 seats, leaving others for its allies in the UDF and some independents.
The Congress has been out of power in the southern state for a decade. Kerala will go to the polls on April 9 to elect a new 140- member Assembly, with results scheduled for May 4.
