Indonesia Intervenes ‘Boldly’ as Rupiah Weakens Toward Record
Indonesia’s central bank said it is intervening “boldly” in financial markets to stabilize the rupiah as the currency falls toward a record low.
The central bank commits to maintain rupiah stability by using “all available instruments boldly,” Governor Perry Warjiyo said in a statement on Friday.
The rupiah was at 16,750 per dollar on Thursday, about 1.2% away from the record low in April.
