Will return after May 4 for BJP oath ceremony': PM Modi wraps up West Bengal campaign
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would form the next government in West Bengal after the assembly polls, asserting that he would return to the state for the oath-taking ceremony after results are announced on May 4.
While addressing a ‘Vijay Sankalp’ rally at Barrackpore in North 24 Parganas district ahead of the second phase of polling in the state, PM said, ‘This is my last rally in this election, and wherever I have gone in West Bengal, I have seen the mood of the people. I am returning with the confidence that after the results on May 4, I will come back to attend the BJP’s oath-taking ceremony’.
The Prime Minister further said Bengal has played a deeply personal role in his life and spiritual journey. He said, ‘The attachment I have had towards Bengal has been a devotion to Shakti. This has been the energy center of my personal spiritual journey. It has been inspired by Bengal’s great personalities and the immense love of the people, the Janata Janardan. The experiences I have had on this land of Bengal, I consider a great blessing upon myself’.
Invoking the historical significance of Barrackpore, the prime minister said the land had played a key role in India’s first war of Independence in 1857 and was now preparing the ground for political change in West Bengal. Modi also said West Bengal’s progress was essential for India’s overall development and stressed that the rise of the eastern region was crucial for the country’s future.
Modi added that he greatly values the messages, letters, and portraits he received during the campaign. In Barrackpore, PM is campaigning for BJP candidate Kaustav Bagchi against the current MLA and Trinamool Congress candidate, film director Raj (Raju) Chakraborty.
